The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for Library Media Specialist teaching positions that may become available within our division for the 2025 – 2026 school year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Library Media Specialist works with teachers and other school staff to provide skills and materials to supplement student learning. Responsibilities include maintaining an updated and efficiently functioning library; maintaining and upgrading library materials; supervising the circulation of library materials; instructing students on how to use the library; and performing management duties related to the library.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement as a Library Media Specialist
- Have extensive knowledge of books and literature
- Apply technology in an educational setting
- Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework
- Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
- Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
- Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
- Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with the selection and utilization of library media materials and equipment, including the various technologies found in the media centers
- Experience with the organization, administration, and evaluation of a library media center, including ethical issues
- Familiarity with the role of the library media specialist as a resource person for students and professional staff in curriculum design and the integration of library media services in instruction
FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: $50,072.26 - $83,120.04 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience (current salary scale may change due to 2025-2026 budget considerations)
