Grounds Lead

The Montgomery County School Board, Virginia, is now accepting applications for a Grounds Lead position that is available in the division.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Grounds Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of grounds technicians, ensuring the proper maintenance and care of school grounds. This includes assigning and scheduling work orders for recurring maintenance, repair, and preventive care to maximize productivity. The Lead Grounds ensures adherence to safe work practices and monitors the work to ensure quality and timeliness. This role reports to and is supervised by the Supervisor of Facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Vaid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License - Class B with an acceptable driving record
- Experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping
- Knowledge of various grounds maintenance techniques, equipment operation, and landscaping practices
- Ability to work independently and manage a team effectively
- Experience with irrigation systems, landscaping, and groundskeeping equipment
- Ability to respond to situations in a timely manner and maintain a safe work environment
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
- Skilled in the operation of backhoes and grapple ladders
- Ability to operate a dump truck with snow plow during snow removal operations
PREFERENCE GIVEN FOR:
- Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership role in grounds maintenance
- A VDAC’s Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification within the first six months of hire
FLSA Status – Non-Exempt
SALARY: $40,448.52 - $78,905.34 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience
