School Counselor - SY 2024-2025

The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for three anticipated School Counselor positions for SY 2024-2025.  The locations and grade levels are to be determined.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

School counselors are highly educated, professionally certified individuals who help students succeed in school and plan their career. An integral part of the total education system, school counselors help students form healthy goals, mindsets and behaviors. With the aid of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, to practice perseverance, to develop time management and study skills, and to learn self-motivation and self-direction habits. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement as a school counselor, PreK-12 or equivalent  - Consideration given for candidates who hold a current active license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP).
• An earned master’s degree in counseling with an emphasis in school counseling
• The ability to support students by cooperatively working with parents/guardians and teachers
• Have experience and expertise in using technology in education
• Have experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment
• Have experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration and course work
• Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with parents and families
• Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate with a team of other teachers
• Ability to be dependable and punctual
