Coordinator of Special Education
10-Month Position

Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a qualified and experienced special education professional to develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate instructional programs for students with special needs. The candidate must be prepared to work collaboratively within our division and lead school-based teams on implementing evidence-based strategies. We are looking for a dynamic candidate who is interested in a work environment that affords ongoing personal learning opportunities, collaboration with special education and general education colleagues, and an opportunity to influence the continued efforts of inclusive education, while focusing on student outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, School Administration, or Curriculum and Instruction
- Hold or be eligible to hold a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education
- Proficient at data collection, data analysis and data-based decision making
- Effectively collaborate with colleagues and school-based teams
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations for special education
- Knowledge of federal and state accountability
- Experience leading and facilitating professional development
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills
- Other similar and directly related experience, as determined by the Superintendent, can be substituted for a specific required qualification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Leadership experience in K-12 setting
- Five (5) years of public school experience
