School Year 2018-2019
Montgomery County Public Schools, Virginia, is seeking a School Psychologist for the school year 2018-2019. The School Psychologist provides a variety of services to students who have been referred to the Special Education Department for assessment.
Some of the duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Administering a variety of psychological evaluations to students to aid in determining eligibility for Special Education services
- Determines the test(s) to be given to the student on an as needed basis with respect to the referral (e.g. behavioral problems, emotional problems, learning disabilities)
- Assists in conducting re-evaluations of special education students when requested
- Confers with parents and school personnel to interpret test findings
- Consults with teachers and parents to explain the needs of the special education student
- Recommends to teachers and guidance counselors special activities geared to help the special education student
- Recommends alternative learning strategies to teachers of special education
- Helps identify all types of exceptional children within the school
- Assists with in-service training of school personnel
- Cooperates with community health and social welfare agencies
- Attends Child Study/Case Consultation meetings
- Writes a psychological report on every student that is referred to special education
- Provides individual and group counseling services to students
Qualifications:
- Hold a Pupil Personnel Services Certificate
- Hold a master’s degree in School Psychology
- Hold a state endorsement as a school psychologist
- Be able to communicate effectively with parents, students and colleagues
Salary: $57,376.83 - $91,338.24, depending on experience
FLSA: Exempt
