The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for a highly qualified candidate for a part-time Elementary School Assistant Principal position and Building 504 Coordinator for the 2024 – 2025 school year. This is a split position with the Assistant Principal position being at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School and the Building 504 Coordinator position being at a secondary school to be determined.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assistant Principal:
To assist the school principal in the overall administration of instructional programs and campus-level operations, and to assist the school principal in the planning, coordination, and directing of activities and programs related to the administration of the school.
Building 504 Coordinator:
To oversee the development and implementation of Section 504 Plans for children with disabilities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assistant Principal:
- Demonstrates successful experience planning and implementing instructional initiatives
- Possesses knowledge and experience with state and federal requirements including the Virginia Standards of Learning
- Communicates effectively with stakeholders through outstanding written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of school accreditation and ability to work with parents and staff as a team to achieve the standard
- Displays a record of success in establishing an effective learning environment and maintaining high standards of student conduct
- Demonstrates experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration, and coursework and expertise in using technology in education and administration
- Engages in a collaborative leadership style
- Cultivates an inclusive, equitable, and warm learning environment for a diverse student population
- Fosters positive relationships and works effectively with parents and families
- Models professional behavior by being dependable, punctual, and present
Building 504 Coordinator:
- Provides in-service on Section 504 to school staff
- Develops and implements procedures to identify and locate students who are disabled within the scope of 504
- Develops and disseminates information about Section 504
- Oversees the development and implementation of Section 504 for eligible students
- Monitors the implementation and carries out Section 504 plans for students
- Collects and maintains Section 504 data on students
- Serves as a resource person to explain Section 504 and to provide compliance with Section 504
- Recommends to the Director of Student Services actions and needs relative to Section 504 compliance with children with disabilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited institution
- Post Graduate Professional license with administration and supervision endorsement required
- Hold or immediately be eligible for a Virginia license with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision: PreK-12
- Three years of successful experience as a teacher, administrator, or supervisor
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents
- Knowledge of Tier 1, 2, and 3 accommodations and discipline procedures for students with disabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience at the elementary level
SALARY: $70,060.77 - $126,209.14 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience
FLSA Status: Exempt
