The Montgomery County School Board, Virginia, is accepting applications for a Montgomery County STEM Teacher - Elementary position that is available for the 2024-2025 school year at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School.
Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an elementary education endorsement
- Evidence of at least three (3) years of exemplary classroom teaching experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with Google platforms
- A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively
- Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning
- Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning
- Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position
- Proven ability to apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level
- Deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction
- Proven ability to coach and collaborate with teachers regarding student learning
- Desire to continue learning “what works” in classroom instruction
- Knowledge of elementary SOLs and how to integrate STEM into existing curriculum
- Knowledge of Virginia computer science standards
- Experience in planning for integration of rigorous content, processes, and skills within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics instruction
- A commitment to community partnerships and community involvement
- Ability to coordinate STEM events and celebrations
- Ability to interact with others to foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and citizenship
- Ability to understand engineering design model
- Experience in utilizing low-cost or open educational resources in designing STEM activities
- Experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment
Preferred:
- Master’s in mathematics and/or science and/or STEM or related field
- National Board Certification, Curriculum and Instruction
- Experience in delivering professional development to teachers
- Google certification
FLSA Status: Exempt
SALARY: $50,072.26 - $83,120.04 annually; with benefits; commensurate with experience and pro-rated to start date
