Montgomery County School Public Schools in Christiansburg, Virginia is excited to announce an opening for a Supervisor of Grants and Innovation at our Central Office.

This pivotal role is your chance to drive innovation by identifying funding opportunities, crafting winning grant proposals, and supporting our staff in achieving division goals.

As the Supervisor of Grants and Innovation,you will also oversee research initiatives, coordinate our involvement with the Southwest Virginia Governor’s School and the National Board teacher certification process, and actively contribute to various committees.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in planning and implementing instructional initiatives
  • Work with teachers and administrators to identify school and division needs that may qualify for grant funding support
  • Identify appropriate public and private local, state, and national competitive opportunities
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with current or potential funding partners, including foundations, governmental entities, universities, and community agencies/organizations
  • Complete and submit grant proposals in a timely manner
  • Secure School Board approval for competitive grant applications when required by policy
  • Support the management of grant funding, including the All-In tutoring program 
  • Assist with coordinating the MCPS Alternative Model for Professional Studies (AMPS) program
  • Assist with the MCPS Teacher of the Year process
  • Provide editing and writing support to MCPS staff for grant and award applications
  • Serve on the strategic planning committee
  • Support the management of state and federal grants, including Title programs and pandemic relief funds 
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team
  • Engage in practices that foster an inclusive learning environment
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, English, Communications, Business Administration or related field
  • Demonstrate an understanding of state and federal requirements, including the Virginia Standards of Learning
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of school accreditation and the ability to work with staff as a team to achieve the standard
  • Demonstrate effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and write grant proposals
  • Demonstrate superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Have strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of K-12 public education; experience as a teacher and/or school administrator desirable
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role of technology in research, teaching, and learning
  • Demonstrate computer literacy, including proficiency in internet database searching, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite applications
  • Maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality
  • Demonstrate ability to multitask, work with interruptions, and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Possess skills in facilitating educational and training presentations and discussions
  • Possess initiative and ability to effectively work with minimal supervision  
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively make oral presentations before large groups of people
  • Demonstrate ability to be dependable, punctual, and complete tasks without direct supervision

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Virginia Postgraduate Professional license with Administration/Supervisory endorsement
  • Previous successful experience as a Supervisor of Grants and Innovation with a public school system

FLSA Status:  Exempt

SALARY:  $77,241.99 - $139,145.59 annually, depending on experience. Includes benefits
