Adminsitrative Assistant - Help Desk - Technology Department

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Administrative Assistant - Technology Help Desk will play a crucial role in supporting our students, teachers, and staff in effectively utilizing technology for teaching and learning. This person will be responsible for troubleshooting technical issues related to Chromebooks, Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), and other educational technology tools.

Their expertise will ensure smooth operation of our digital learning environment and contribute to the success of our educational mission.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience providing technical support in a school or educational environment

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Chromebooks, Google Workspace, and related educational software

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently and independently

  • Excellent problem solving abilities

  • Working knowledge of the Google platform (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites)

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory information

  • Functional knowledge of modern professional office workflow

  • Ability to maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality

  • Ability to multitask, work with interruptions, and work under pressure

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Provide timely technical support to students, teachers, and staff via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues with Chromebooks and related devices.
  • Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of Chromebooks and educational software.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to implement technology initiatives and projects.
  • Create and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures and solutions.
  • Work cooperatively with the Director of Technology
  • Work collaboratively with the MCPS Testing Coordinator for planning and preparing standardized assessment  technology for delivery and collection
  • Assist with asset management of IT devices
  • Assist with proper disposal of surplus IT equipment
  • Assist with online ordering of equipment and services
  • Assist with timely payment of invoices
  • Provides support to the technology department

OTHER DUTIES

  • Maintains records and files
  • Types correspondence as needed
  • Prepares reports as needed
  • Assists with inquires and directs questions to the appropriate person

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Strong knowledge with managing Chromebook fleets in an educational setting
  • Familiarity with educational software and learning management systems
  • Experience working with students or in a school environment
  • Bilingual proficiency
  • Working knowledge and experience with PowerSchool Student Information System
  • Experience delivering professional development
  • Experience providing remote technical support
  • Experience with VA Standards of Learning testing and procedures
